Three Youth Co:Lab Startups Selected to Join Prestigious Business Call to Action Platform

By Youth Co:Lab

We are delighted to announce that three Youth Co:Lab startups - Daastan, DeafTawk and iFarmer - have been selected to join Business Call to Action – a prestigious global inclusive business platform of 280 member companies accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Business Call to Action – a platform for advancing inclusive business

Business Call to Action (BCtA) accelerates progress towards the SDGs by recognizing innovative inclusive business models that engage people at the base of the economic pyramid as consumers, producers, suppliers, distributors of goods and services, and employees.

Over 280 companies ranging from multinationals and national companies to small and medium enterprises operating in over 80 countries have responded to the BCtA by committing to improve the lives and livelihoods of millions in developing countries through innovative business solutions. These BCtA member companies are market leaders that provide examples of successful, profitable, and scalable models for reaching poor communities and contributing to global development.

New Youth-Led Members of the BCtA

Following a rigorous application process, three startups supported by the Youth Co:Lab Springboard Programme - Daastan, DeafTawk, and iFarmer - have been selected to become BCtA member companies.

Each of the new youth-led BCtA members offers innovative business solutions to advance the SDGs:

DeafTawk is an online platform that aims to bridge the communication gap between the deaf community and the general public. It brokers real-time language interpretation to enable the deaf community to access quality health, education, and employment opportunities. DeafTawk has provided more than 90,000 hours of sign language interpretation to over 17,000 deaf people.

iFarmer is a platform that enables individuals and institutions to fund the capital requirement of farmers. iFarmer bundles finance with agriculture inputs, advisory services, insurance, and market access. iFarmer’s vision is to build Bangladesh's most efficient and largest agriculture finance and supply chain platform and improve lives of the farmers, retailers, businesses, and consumers in a meaningful way.

BCtA membership will provide these youth-led social enterprises with opportunities for global recognition and visibility, connections to partners and funders, and access to technical support to enhance their impact measurement and inclusive business management practices. As members, they will also have the opportunity to voice their views and be part of shaping the future of inclusive business.

Youth Co:Lab’s Springboard incubation programme curates practical curricula to support youth-led social enterprises to enhance their impact and connects them to opportunities – such as BCtA membership – to advance their SDG solutions.
