Our Impact
GIN has won the Climate Action for Clean Air challenge organized by the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). It also received support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Bhutan, thus, we currently have an office at the Startup centre. Our innovation, UR (Useful recycled) bricks has also been selected to receive the Industrial Development Grant Scheme from the Department of Cottage and Small Industries for assembling the machines. Therefore, once we have all the finances ready, we are going to work with the nation's leading mechanical expert from Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) to assemble the plastic brick making machines in the country instead of importing them. GIN has successfully planned collaboration with the local governments of the 5 pilot villages for the implementation of UR Bricks.
Apart from the support granted by the Royal Government of Bhutan, GIN is also being mentored by renowned recycling experts from UK and Germany specifically on the research and development of our prototype, which will soon be tested by the Bhutan Standards Bureau.
In addition, we are conducting market analysis and collecting testimonies from our potential customers which are in the government, private and civil society organizations to promote the use of UR Bricks and reduce the impact of plastic waste in the country.
